When to Seek Help for Cocaine abuse?

Cocaine is a stimulant drug that releases the feel-good chemical dopamine. It increases activity in the nervous system, making you feel more excited, confident, and alert. Although these feelings may leave you feeling good, they often wear off within as little as five minutes.

Though cocaine is illegal, many people use it and gradually become reliant on the short-term effects and ‘high’ it provides, causing an addiction to develop from the substance abuse. A free base form of cocaine is known as crack cocaine, its form make it easier to consume by smoking it, you can learn more about it and how to recover from it on our crack cocaine rehab & treatment page.

As well as affecting your physical, psychological, and behavioral health, cocaine use disorder can impact those around you. You might find that you push loved ones away or withdraw from social activities. This can be difficult for others to watch, but with drug addiction treatment and rehab, you’ll be able to turn over a new leaf from the drug abuse.

How We Treat Cocaine Addiction and Abuse

Before starting your personalized treatment program, you’ll be taken through medical detox. During this stage, your body removes all traces of cocaine from its system. An important first step of any treatment plan, detox will set you up for the rest of your journey, giving you a clear head to take on therapy and counseling.

During cocaine detox, you’ll experience a few withdrawal symptoms like exhaustion, increased appetite, and reduced concentration.

These can be uncomfortable, but it’s just your body getting used to functioning without cocaine. Though withdrawal can’t be avoided, symptoms alleviate within several weeks. As you’ll be under medical supervision, we can prescribe medication to help relieve symptoms if you find them difficult to cope with.

After detox, you’ll be introduced to a range of therapies and treatments that will help you uncover the root cause of your addiction and develop healthy coping mechanisms that you can use after rehab.

How Long Does Rehab Last for Cocaine Addiction?

Cocaine addiction rehab usually lasts for up to sixty days. During this time, ten to fourteen days are spent undergoing detoxification, and thirty to forty-five days include recovery house stay and rehabilitation. However, every recovery journey is unique, so there’s no set time frame to how long rehab will last. We’ll always accommodate you, however long that takes.

During your stay, there may be times when you become restless and eager to get back into the groove of normal life. After all, you’ve achieved so much. While it’s great to acknowledge this, you mustn’t rush anything. Don’t let your excitement push you to make changes too fast. Sobriety is a lifelong journey, so go steadily and stick to the entire length of time in rehab.

Therapies during the Rehab Process

You'll be introduced to treatments like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychotherapy that will help you get to the root cause of your addiction. You'll have a chance to process any trauma you've experienced from cocaine abuse and develop coping strategies with the help of a dedicated recovery support worker.

Group Sessions

Group sessions, or group therapy, at United Recovery CA complement individual and alternative therapies and are an important part of the recovery process from cocaine abuse. During these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your addiction, seek support from your peers, and progress through the 12-step program.

You’ll also have the chance to listen to other people’s stories, which we often find offers our clients a wealth of inspiration and motivation.

Individual Sessions

Though individual and one-to-one sessions sound similar, the two treatments are different. Unlike our one-to-one sessions, individual sessions will see you meet with one or more therapists to talk openly about your addiction, review the impact it has had on your life, and learn tools that will help you stick with sobriety.

During your stay with us, you’ll attend a range of one-to-one individual therapy sessions with a licensed therapist, giving you a chance to get things off your chest and better understand your addiction.

Aftercare and Relapse Prevention

It can be scary to open up to a crowd of new people but keep in mind that you’re all in this together. You’re all on a similar journey, so you’ll never be judged. If you do feel worried, scared, or overwhelmed, we’ll be there to support you at all times. We’ll always encourage discussion, but we’ll never force you to speak if you don’t feel comfortable. It’s all about taking things at your own pace.

At United Recovery CA, we understand that you may be worried about the consequences that attending rehab could have on your job. Like others in recovery, you may be concerned that you will be fired if your employer finds out you need to attend cocaine addiction treatment and rehab. However, specific rules and regulations are in place to prevent this from happening.

For example, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) enables employees to take up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave per year. Within this act, it states that “medical leave can be taken if an employee is unable to work because of a health condition”, this should allow you to follow your treatment for cocaine addiction fully.
